The Curious Thimble Studio is my art & living history practice. My artwork is mostly focused on combining needlework, drawing and block-printing to create historically rooted and folk-style pieces. My living history practice is rooted in exploring women’s labor both creative and agricultural from the late 18th/19th centuries and during WWII.

I have been working as both a museum professional in historical interpretation and as a teaching artist for over 20 years. I often teach classes on printmaking, embroidery, applique, sewing, treadle machines, hearth cooking, and maple sugaring. I have experience in both costumed interpretation and traditional tour settings. I only do third person costumed interpretation.

I received my undergraduate degree at Mt. Holyoke College in Art History in 2008 and a graduate degree in Italian Cultural Studies at the University of Connecticut in 2014. In addition to my professional experience I have been involved in some sort of farming since my internship days at Old Sturbridge Village with experience in animal husbandry related to dairy cattle, goats, sheep and horses (both draft & saddle). I am an avid equestrian with a new passion for short distance endurance riding.
